PIE climb new heights!

On Sunday 10th September, nine brave members of the PIE team gave up their Sunday to walk 18 miles in the Chiltern 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Rennie Grove Hospice Care. For those of you unfamiliar with this event, it's a walk along the Ridgeway in Buckinghamshire, taking in several of the highest hills along the way (with a lot of other smaller ones thrown in for good measure).

The team threw themselves into the challenge (some of them a little more reluctantly than others) and we completed the event in 6 hours, making no stops along the way. The final stretch up Ivinghoe Beacon was particularly challenging as the wind got up and the rain started - and it was a hill that seemed to go on forever. And ever.

I'm hugely proud of all of them, they were great and kept going - despite the moans and groans. And I think today they all feel a certain sense of achievement, as none of us had any real concept of just how far 18 miles is to walk! Today we are blistered, bruised, sore and tired but we’ve raised some cash and surprised ourselves. All in all, a great day (although perhaps some of us might take a few days to agree with that statement…)

If anyone would like to contribute to our fundraising, please click here, we would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored us and to Rennie Grove for a brilliantly organised event.
