And in other news, the PIE team took to the water on our latest awayday in July, following another record-breaking quarter.
The team arrived at Lee Valley White Water Centre where our first activity was the ‘water wipeout’. Initially dismissed by many of the team as being 'for children', the whole team were indeed wiped out. Following several exhaustive rounds, we moved onto time trials for completing the course, with a notable mention to Mark Walker for completing the course in the fastest time. We don't know how he managed it!
Now somewhat less than fresh as daisies, we proceeded to the white water rafting where we were split into two rafts and took on the Olympic rapids. Following a training session where we even had to throw ourselves bodily into a rapid to prove we could swim out of it, we took on the course – some with more trepidation than others. And what an adrenaline filled experience it was! There were thrills and spills, near-death experiences and an overwhelming sense of achievement each time we reached the finish line (before we went again…many times…). A fantastic experience which I think we’d all recommend to anyone!
And yes, in case you were wondering…a well deserved beer or several followed.
If anyone is interested in booking an afternoon, here's the link to the centre: https://www.gowhitewater.co.uk/ .We'd rate it a 10/10 experience!
